MODERNISATION OF SPATIAL DATA INFRASTRUCTURE TO REDUCE RISKS AND IMPACTS OF FLOODS

The closing conference of the project ‘’Modernisation of Spatial Data Infrastructure to Reduce Risks and Impacts of Floods’’ which took place on 18 October 2016 featured speakers who presented and evaluated main results of the project that received EUR 2 million under EEA Grants. The project facilitates water management process and reduces flood risks and impacts of flooding. Furthermore, it makes a big step towards improved compliance of spatial data and spatial data services with the INSPIRE Implementing Rules, which facilitates simultaneous use of data by Slovenian stakeholders and neighbouring countries. This builds a solid foundation for planning and implementation of flood control measures which are of extreme importance in Slovenia. Throughout the duration of the project, the project promoter, Surveying and Mapping Authority of the Republic of Slovenia, worked closely together with the Ministry of the Environment and Spatial Planning and partners from donor countries – Norwegian Mapping Authority (Statens Kartverk) and National Land Survey of Iceland (Landmælingar Íslands).
