9 May 2022 – The Joint Committee of Bilateral Fund agreed on financing of bilateral activity to support the integration of displaced persons from Ukraine with temporary protection in Slovenia.
The target group are displaced prersons from Ukraine with temporary protection status living in accommodation centers provided by the Government Office for the Support and Integration of Migrants and other displaced persons. By implementing this bilateral initiative, Slovenia is responding to the consequences of the war in Ukraine, which began at the end of February 2022 and quickly led to the mass exodus of people from this country.
Implementing entity is the Government Office for the Support and Integration of Migrants (UOIM). Basic support will be provided in the integration of persons with the status of temporary protection from Ukraine into Slovenian society, and the activities will be carried out online.
The objectives of the bilateral initiative focus on three key areas:
- Obtaining relevant information on the knowledge of the fundamental rights to which they are entitled as temporarily displaced persons;
- Ukrainian refugees will be provided with a short orientation course on the main features of life in Slovenia, which will significantly accelerate their integration into society;
- Individual students with the status of temporary protection who are enrolled in Slovenian public schools will be provided with support in basic literacy in the Slovenian language and assistance in the learning process.
The estimated value of the bilateral initiative is EUR 101,000.00 and is expected to be implemented from May to December 2022. The bilateral initiative is being implemented under the Fund for Bilateral Relations.
