Project summary:

Three partner protected areas (Sečovlje Salina Nature Park and Landscape Park Strunjan from Slovenia and Jotunheimen National Park from Norway) with various problems caused by motorized visit (road, sea and air) meet in the project. Sečovlje Salina Nature Park will become the first Slovenian nature park where no motorized access for visitors will be allowed. Experiences from visits to Norway are the use of off-road vehicles and helicopters, while the Slovenian partner has extensive problems with too many cars in the park. The project aims to conserve nature through offering sight-seeing in an environmentally acceptable manner. Goals will be achieved through construction of environmentally friendly visitor infrastructure, ''learning by doing'' activities, including exchange of experience and studying best practice models of sustainable visitation. Supportive activities include monitoring of the impact of visitors, preparation of alternative solutions for traffic and visitation of the parks, raising awareness activities and purchase of environmentally friendly vehicles.
