MOČ – Help for the people, knowledge to the professionals

The project MOČ – Help to the people, knowledge to the professionals – aims to enlarge the network of counselling centres to help people in mental distress, and to train professionals in preventing suicide and promoting mental health.
Due to the fact that there are great differences in Slovenia in terms of access to mental health services, the objective of the project is to improve mental health services. The National Institute of Public Health and its partners will strive to realise the aforementioned objective by training professionals at the primary healthcare level, as well as the professionals in the field of social protection and policemen, as well as by expanding the practice of psychological counselling centres called “Posvet” (in Ljubljana and Kranj) and “Tu smo zate” (in Celje) into other cities or regions in Slovenia.
The project aims to strengthen competence of professionals in the field of mental health in primary healthcare and outside, and to improve local capacity in the field of mental health. The project aims to include at least 100 professionals into the training programme for identifying mental distress and suicidal tendencies, and to establish at least 4 new and 3 upgraded psychological counselling centres to help people in mental distress.
The project is co-financed under the Norwegian Financial Mechanism Programme 2009-2014.
