Global Fund for Decent Work and Tripartite Dialogue

On 20 October 2011 the Fund for Decent Work and Tripartite Dialogue opened for individual project applications, the main results of which were the improvement of the structure and practice of social and tripartite dialogue and better understanding of the benefits of decent work.

Eligible candidates were social partners, public bodies and organisations of public administration, established as legal entities in the beneficiary state and in Norway, the regular activities of which were related to decent work and/or tripartite cooperation at the national, regional and local level. The term social partner relates to organisations which represent the employers and employees. Partnership with Norwegian entities was not necessary but it was, however, desired. The Norwegian legal entities could apply only as project promoters in cooperation with the entities from the beneficiary state.

The Programme focused on the promotion of the agenda for decent work, promotion of tripartite dialogue and the strengthening of bilateral cooperation with the Norwegian partners. By promoting this dialogue the social partners in each country contributed to a more sustainable economic and social development.

In the name of the donors the programme was implemented by “Innovation Norway”. The implementation was horizontal for all 12 beneficiary states. The Fund financed measures which promoted decent work and strengthened trilateral dialogue. The call for proposals is closed, the deadline to close the projects was 31 December 2014 and the projects could last up to 24 months. Two projects in the Republic of Slovenia were allocated funds under financial mechanisms – 57,000 EUR was allocated to the Slovenian Association of Trade Unions Alternativa for the project “Decent retirement” and 84,940 EUR were set aside for the Association of Free Trade Unions of Slovenia to implement the project “Decent project for decent work”.
