Slovenian Scholarship Fund 2009–2014
The second generation of the Slovenian Scholarship Fund (it was first implemented in 2009 and 2010) supported international cooperation, transnational partnership and mobility with the objective of increasing the internationalisation of professional and higher education in Slovenia. The supported projects and activities directly increased the institutional cooperation between Slovenia and the EEA countries, which will establish a long-term cooperation. For the cooperation and exchanges the Fund allocated 1.3 million Euros for scholarships, education and research.
The following entities were included in the programme:
- Norwegian Centre for International Cooperation in Education (SIU), Norway
- Icelandic Centre for Research (RANIS), Iceland
- National Agency for International Education Affairs (AIBA), Liechtenstein
The following activities were supported in the framework of the Scholarship Programme:
- preparatory visits
- mobility projects in higher education (mobility of students and personnel)
- mobility projects for educational staff in the general and vocational education and training (training of the employees, attending seminars, conferences, etc.)
- projects of inter-institutional cooperation in higher education (intensive programmes)
- projects of inter-institutional cooperation in the field of education and training (partnerships)
Higher education institutions and institutions in the field of primary and secondary vocational education and training were eligible to apply their projects in the framework of the Scholarship Programme. Besides the Project Promoters also enterprises, social partners, chambers, organisations responsible for the systems and policies pertaining to any aspect of training and education at the local, regional and national level, research centres and organisations dealing with life-long learning, non-profit organisations, volunteer bodies and NGOs benefited from the cooperation within the Scholarship Programme.
Programme target groups (final users) were:
- students and participants in all forms of tertiary education and training;
- young graduates who are looking for training opportunities to work abroad (eligible for entry into the mobility within one year after the date of obtaining the degree);
- higher education institutions as defined by the participating countries;
- teachers, faculty, directors, managers and other staff in higher education institutions;
- PhD students, post-PhD assistants and researchers;
- staff from enterprises that participate in the activities of teaching/education/training;
- enterprises, social partners and other representatives of the work environment, working with accredited educational institutions;
- research centres and bodies dealing with with lifelong learning issues;
- bodies responsible for systems and policies in the field of education at the local, regional and/or national level;
- schools and other institutions that provide vocational education and/or training;
- directors, managers, teachers, faculty, administrative and technical staff from the eligible institutions
A total of 2 million EUR was made available for the abovementioned activities, in Slovenia implemented by the Centre of the Republic of Slovenia for Mobility and European Educational and Training Programmes (CMEPIUS).
